Project One- Oz

The land of Green witches is a small, leaf-shaped country in the southern Quadling Country in Oz. Its inhabitants are magical beings who are a quirky mix of gothic folk and hippies. They are environmentally-minded and they use their magic to grow their gardens and keep their land prosperous. They are peaceful people, though if you are a climate change naysayer beware as they are viciously protective of their planet.

Their plants are considered their friend- but aside from the large forest trees- their everyday flowers and plants are not 'alive' in the normal Oz sense. Though these witches do see their gardens as their children.

Their capitol city of Aspen is run mostly like a community garden- with many witches flying around and caring for their shared plants. They love outsiders coming and seeing their gardens, and heavily welcome people walking through.

Eva is another notable city praised for its appeal to thrill seekers. A waterfall park lay at its center- with diving opportunities galore.

In class writing #1- Tarot

King of Pentacles The King of Pentacles sits on his throne of wealth. So caught up in his worldly possessions and his titles that his eyes are blinded to his citizens and their needs. Encased in glamor and lavish robes he loses himself in his own desires, becoming a tyrant in the eyes of his people. What once was a joyous rule and a prosperous land turns harsh and desolate under his hand as his soul turns dark, muddy with the weight of his wrongdoings towards the citizens that once sang his praises. In a way, it entraps him. Their scorn leaves him little reason to think of amends or an offer of an olive branch- leading him to plummet further back into his cage of greed, until he is so black of heart that he does not remember the man he was before. Yes all have heard of The King of Pentacles, but none remember the light-hearted prince he started as. A tragedy of yet another wicked heart twisted by the siren song of greed.  Page of Pentacles The Page of Pentacles is a mere c...

Project Four- History + Nerd Trope

Mt. St Helens Erupting due to feuding Greek gods On May 18th in the year 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted in Skamania County, Washington. The first significant volcanic eruption in the landlocked 48 states since 1915, it shocked the country.  It killed 57 people directly through it’s eruption, and damaged hundreds of square miles- turning it into a wasteland. Animals were killed, and a serene mountain was left with a crater in it’s side. It was preempted by two months of earthquakes and steam episodes before it burst, but very little know of the true cause of it’s mighty eruption. Two months of feuds. Of bickers. Two months of Hephaestus, god of fire and forge, feuding with Apollo as they worked to come to a consensus on a project that would benefit mankind. Hephaestus prided himself on being a patient god, but as the annoyance blared in his ears, his irritation rose. At first he could disperse it with steam, pacing, and rants. Yet the longer he was locked down their in the forg...

In-Class Writing #2

Write Something that Happened to you with the hurricane Monotony. The only way to describe the feeling of drifting brought through a week of feeble inability. Displacement from the routine, the work, the current that is so very Ringling. Thesis? Unworkable. Art? Not doable. Writing? Implausible. A mind-numbing schedule forms, waking up in the late morning to the sound of shifting air and distant footsteps. Lazing through what becomes morning, waking friends for what becomes an evening of staring at a salvaged tv and desperately seeking to distract one another from the itch. The itch of productivity. We should be working, it’s there, hanging above us. Yet, each time one moves to do so obstacle after brutal obstacle make the work pace stagnant and stale. So we sit. Stare. Hope that were can pass the time long enough to avoid the madness we felt building at our position. You would never think a hurricane had displaced us, it felt distant and faded. We were distant. Were we going to ha...
